A man named Lee Asher spent lots of time at the local shelter since he was young, it was clear that Lee loves dogs since he was young, in order to raise awareness about dog adoption, he left all possessions behind to travel across the country to let people know that shelter animals make great pets. He started rescue animals since he was young and he continued his activism by continuously fostering animals and adopting his own “crew.”
“I always knew that when I was older I would have a house filled with rescues, so seeing where I am now isn’t much of a surprise to me or anyone who knew me growing up,” Asher told The Dodo.
“The inspiration just comes from loving dogs and knowing that you are not only saving a life, but when rescuing a dog you are allowing the space for other rescues to possibly get adopted too. It’s a win-win and a beautiful feeling,” said Asher.
After quitting his job he bought a RV and he went off on a adventure to save dogs around the country, along with him are the six adopted pooches Asher rescued. He goal is to visit the shelters and rescuing as many animals as he can in 48 states.
“We wanna show people that the dogs in the shelters are the most beautiful, loving, amazing dogs you can imagine,” Asher says in the video.
As of three months ago, the two mates and their pets have been to 31 states and rescued over 90 dogs, a truly incredible feat. But the duo is far from being done.
“I’m not even close to being finished,” Asher said. “The end, end goal is to clear the shelters.”
